RODFOS
It struck me a while ago that the Web could do with a place for people to come together to try to solve the problem of online services (you know, Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, Dreamhost, that sort of thing) not knowing when one of their users has died, and of them not knowing what to do even once they have been told that one of their users has died.
It’s true that many online service companies are getting better at handling these issues sensitively, but it seems that the industry as a whole could do with a standard code of conduct and protocol for the task. Rodfos.org is a place where you can join me in working out what that code of conduct and protocol should look like, and is also a place from which we will ultimately be able to co-ordinate a campaign to have online service companies adopt those standards.
